This year, we start at the end
The new year has always necessitated an article talking about how to goal set, get rid of the old year funk and to just do it! But this isn’t that, I promise not to bring up new year resolutions and instead choose to focus on our you.
Let’s play a little exercise, close your eyes and imagine yourself old and grey but healthy. Having survived ages and thrived. You are now seated in your comfort place all warm and safe reminiscing the good old days. Proudly showing off your scars and trophies shouting that “I have no regrets!”
In that moment.
What do you see in those good old days? What about yourself would make you smile in that moment? To some it’s a clear image and to others it is vague, Be patient with yourself in this exercise and try again later if you must but a happy feeling within those memories is what you should be searching for.
Once found, that feeling, and that image should be what you chase and work towards. It may be small and incremental steps that you take, and it may take years to get to but stay resilient and work towards it with no regrets.
Remember that the journey that you will have started will need to be guarded with vigor, which means that sometimes you will have to stand your ground and say no. Sometimes you will have to lay down your pride. Sometimes you will have to be a coward and run away and sometimes you will bravely execute things you have never tried before because those are the colors used to make the image you are painting.
Take baby steps as you learn and unlearn, be kind to yourself and others and most importantly keep pushing yourself to be better and to do better. Have a happy new year and I wish you all success in all you do.
